AODA Accessibility Policy
1. Purpose
Nordstrong Equipment Limited is committed to excellence in serving all customers, clients,
employees, and visitors, including people with disabilities. This policy outlines our
commitment to meeting the accessibility needs of persons with disabilities in a timely
manner and in accordance with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005
(“AODA”) and its regulations.
2. Scope
This policy applies to all employees, volunteers, and contractors of Nordstrong Equipment
Limited, and applies to all interactions with clients, customers, and the general public in
Ontario.
3. General Principles
• Commitment
Nordstrong Equipment Limited is committed to treating all individuals in a way that
allows them to maintain their dignity and independence. We believe in integration
and equal opportunity, and we are committed to meeting the needs of people with
disabilities in a timely manner.
• Multi-Year Accessibility Plan
Nordstrong Equipment Limited has developed and maintains a Multi-Year
Accessibility Plan, which is reviewed and updated at least once every five years. The
plan outlines our strategy to prevent and remove barriers and meet our
requirements under AODA.
4. Customer Service Standard
Nordstrong Equipment Limited will:
• Communicate with people with disabilities in ways that take into account their
disability;
• Provide assistive devices, service animals, and support persons full access to our
facilities;
• Train staff on how to interact and communicate with people with various types of
disabilities;
• Ensure that people with disabilities who use service animals or support persons are
welcomed and accommodated in all areas open to the public.
Notice of Temporary Disruptions
In the event of a planned or unexpected disruption to services or facilities for customers
with disabilities, Nordstrong Equipment Limited will promptly post notices, including:
• The reason for the disruption;
• The expected duration;
• Alternative facilities or services, if available.
5. Information and Communication Standard
We will ensure that information and communications are accessible to people with
disabilities. This includes:
• Providing information in accessible formats upon request (e.g., large print, audio,
digital formats);
• Addressing communication barriers to ensure effective information sharing with
employees and the public.
6. Accessible Employment
Nordstrong Equipment Limited will:
• Notify applicants that accommodations are available during recruitment and
selection;
• Consult with job applicants who request accommodation and provide suitable
options;
• Inform employees of our policies to support employees with disabilities;
• Provide accessible formats and communication supports upon request;
• Develop and document individualized accommodation plans and return-to-work
processes for employees with disabilities;
• Take into account the accessibility needs of employees with disabilities in
performance management, career development, and job changes.
7. Training
Nordstrong Equipment Limited provides AODA training to all employees, volunteers, and
individuals involved in developing policies or providing goods and services. Training
includes:
• The requirements of AODA and IASR
• The Human Rights Code as it pertains to persons with disabilities
• How to interact with people with various types of disabilities
• How to interact with service animals and support persons
• How to use assistive equipment available at our location
Training will be ongoing and provided as soon as practicable after hiring or when changes
are made to related policies and procedures.
8. Design of Public Spaces (if applicable)
Nordstrong Equipment Limited will meet accessibility standards when building or making
major modifications to public spaces (e.g., parking, sidewalks, service counters, waiting
areas).
9. Documentation and Availability
This policy and our Multi-Year Accessibility Plan are available to the public and are
provided in accessible formats upon request.
Review and Update
This policy is reviewed annually and updated as required to ensure ongoing compliance
with AODA.
