Technical Sales Advisor

Founded in 1909, Nordstrong Equipment Limited is a company with a long history of providing bulk material handling equipment and solutions to agriculture and industrial customers. We are an industry leader in the design and manufacture of a wide variety of robust, high-performance bulk material handling solutions. In addition to our custom-designed product, we also design and manufacture a full line of hoisting equipment for truck dump body applications under the NORDIC trade name.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a motivated and mechanically minded Technical Sales Advisor to join our team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being on the road, connecting with customers at job sites, and providing value-driven solutions. The Sales Advisor will be responsible for promoting and selling our line of idlers, ensuring customer satisfaction, and building strong relationships within the industry.

The Day to Day

  • Travel regularly to customer job sites with a company truck and small trailer to promote, sell and deliver idlers.
  • Ensure customer inventory requirements and that their needs are met.
  • Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of idlers, including technical specifications and performance differences, to clearly communicate value to customers.
  • Identify customer needs and provide tailored solutions that meet those needs.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers through regular site visits and follow-ups.
  • Stays vigilant and prioritizes safety at all times.
  • Actively network within the industry by attending trade shows, events, and association meetings.
  • Report on sales activities, market trends, and customer feedback to support business growth.
  • Enter sales orders, create work orders, purchase orders, and openly communicate between all departments to ensure smooth completion of orders.

The Person

  • Proven experience in sales, preferably in industrial, mechanical, or construction-related products.
  • Willingness to make “cold calls” to potential new customers.
  • Strong technical aptitude with the ability to understand and explain product differences and applications.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to build rapport quickly.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Self-motivated, organized, and comfortable working independently while traveling.
  • Ability to tow and manage a small trailer safely and responsibly.
  • Willingness to travel extensively within the assigned territory.
  • Ability to select the best product option to properly suit the customers application while being competitive with regards to other alternatives.
  • Industry networking experience and/or membership in relevant associations is an asset.
  • Competent with technology, including experience with Microsoft Office suite of products. Experience with Salesforce, or other CRM system, considered an asset.
  • This role is hands-on and active—expect to be on your feet for extended periods, walk across job sites, and regularly lift 35 lbs.

The primary working location for the Technical Sales Advisor is remote with home base for the vehicle and trailer being at the Nordstrong facility in Cannington, ON.
